2011 Triumph Sprint GT

Picture
Well, here she is.  My new pride and joy.  In fact, there's a lot that's new to me about this bike.  It's the first bike street I've ever owned that wasn't a v-twin.  The first triple I'd ever ridden.  My first new bike in a few years and also my first street bike that wasn't a Harley or Buell ever.

I wouldn't call them growing pains, but it took a little while for me to really bond with this one.  It does everything so well with so little drama that you almost don't feel like you have to "earn" anything with it.  At the end of the day, I like that just fine.

I had test-ridden one of these at Spitzie's, but they wanted too much for the demo they had and we weren't able to get a deal together.  Instead, I found this deeply discounted example at Park Cycle in Canton, OH.  I rented a car to pick it up and rode it home.

I'm now really starting to enjoy this bike and after some good high-mile days and fixing a few niggles I'm really getting along with it.  I'm looking forward to some big trips on this one.

Modifications and Improvements

Picture
I'm planning on leaving this bike rather stock, modifications thus far have been minor and point toward better ergonomics and touring ability.

  • 1" GenMar Risers
  • Wired Zumo 550 GPS to stock heated grips plug
  • Givi mounting plate with E45 luggage case
  • Heated gear harness
  • Tankslapper tank protection film
  • Replaced junky plastic clips that hold bag lids with steel master links
  • Shaved down the underseat storage area (had holders for Triumph u-bolt lock, but limited what could be stored under the seat)

I'm not anticipating doing too much else to it at this time.
